Richard A. Londo, MD, HMDC® - Medical Director
Our Medical Director oversees and facilitates the day-to-day operation of hospice medical services, ensuring that we meet or exceed all patient comfort/service levels. Dr. Richard Londo graduated from the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Chicago in 1972. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Rockford and then returned to his hometown of Morrison, Illinois where he practiced from July 1975 until the end of 1988. During the last two years at that location, he was involved in the formation of Whiteside County Hospice care under the auspices of the Whiteside County Health Department. In January 1989, he joined the faculty of the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine at Rockford, teaching in the family medicine residency. Other than a two year period, from 1995 to 1997 when he worked for Swedish-American Hospital Clinic in Roscoe, Illinois, he remained with the school until taking his retirement at the end of 2013. Dr. Londo served as medical director for Northern Illinois Hospice for the last 1-1/2 years of his employment with the University. He finds the work of hospice care very rewarding and happily accepted the offer to continue as medical director of Northern Illinois Hospice as of January 1, 2014. The team approach to end-of-life care, and the skills and empathy exhibited by hospice staff in delivering that care, make Dr. Londo very proud to be a part of Northern Illinois Hospice.
