Your Support Helps
As the most experienced hospice in Northern Illinois, we have relied over the years on thousands of friends to help us with financial support.
Our hospice services are covered by reimbursements from Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and private pay. We provide hospice care for all who qualify, no matter their payment source. In most cases the reimbursements cover approximately two-thirds of the actual cost of our services. Because many services are not reimbursed, the remaining one-third of our costs are met through charitable donations and fund raising events.
Northern Illinois Hospice operates as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization. Your donation is tax deductible as allowed by law and will ensure quality services for the hundreds of patients in our care each year.
Types of Donations
Remembering a friend or loved one by making a gift to us in his/her name is one way to contribute to our work. Every year hundreds of people are memorialized by those who cared about them, and these gifts provide important dollars for our operations.
These gifts are a way of celebrating a living person, perhaps by remembering their birthday or anniversary, special accomplishment or event in their life.
When you make an unrestricted donation, your contribution helps us bridge the gap between our reimbursed expenses and the actual costs of providing services.
You may be interested in supporting a specific program or part of our services. If this is the case, you can restrict your gift to benefit that particular interest you have in our work.
Donations of equipment, supplies, services, and fund-raising event prizes can be given throughout the year and, like cash gifts, are tax deductible. Please call our office at 815.398.0500 for information on what specific needs you may be able to help us with.
Helping to underwrite one of our programs or events is a way that your company can contribute to our work while receiving visibility for your business.
Many corporations match employees’ gifts to nonprofit organizations. Check with your company to find out if your gift to us can be doubled through their support.
Donating mutual fund shares or marketable stocks that have increased in value can create a meaningful tax deduction for you and provide a significant gift to our organization. Please see your professional adviser before making this kind of donation.
NEW! Jewelry and vehicle gifts
Thanks to the partnership of two local businesses, we are now accepting gifts of jewelry and vehicles. Call 815.398.0500 for more information.
Making a planned gift to us is a way of ensuring the long-term stability of our services. In addition, it provides a way for you to develop a strategy that will benefit you, your family, and Northern Illinois Hospice. All of the planned giving vehicles you may consider require advice from legal and financial professionals.
